This weekend is the Canadian Art Foundation’s annual Gallery Hop day! Last night the Foundation hosted the Gallery Hop Gala, which revolved around what look like ambitious, awesome installations by local artist Jon Sasaki (including a Northern Lights chandelier). On Saturday, tour guides will lead walks around the city’s various gallery districts including Kings Street West and Dundas Street West. I’ll be leading a walk down Ossington Avenue, which will start at 3pm inside MKG127. Artists and curators will be on hand at various venues to give short talks on current exhibitions. Sam Mogelonsky will be giving an artist talk on her closing exhibition, ‘Wish You Were Here’ at Red Head inside 401 Richmond, for example. Her talk starts at 3pm, and the show is definitely full of conversation pieces including a wandering island sculpture, a glittery snow-globe, something neon and a rack of kitschy postcards. Have fun hopping!
